Our minds are often full of pre-conceptions about how Christ will intervene in man's affairs. One of the big theories many had was that he will come in a flaming fire and destroy all evildoers, governments and their supporters in one swift action. Bundled into this toxic mix of theology is that God and Christ cause mankind's Greatest ever oppression/tribulation and that this oppression is part of their judgement on mankind culminating in Armageddon.
At Psalm 72 verse 14 we discover that Christ will DELIVER THE POOR ONE CRYING FOR HELP. Christ will Redeem mankind from OPPRESSION, From Violence and from Fraud. Their blood will be precious in his eyes. Notice two things.
A/ The Psalmist does not say that only the blood of Christians will be precious in Christ's eyes. It states that he will help the poor, weak and needy. He will help the homeless and whoever is poor and in need. No discrimination here!
B/ Instead of causing the OPPRESSION of humans, Christ STOPS the OPPRESSION and relieves the distress of impoverished humans and the degraded conditions they have been subjected to.
Christ takes NO part in Oppressing humans. Christ comes to halt all oppression, therefore God and Christ DO NOT CREATE THE GREAT TRIBULATION ON MANKIND. How do we establish from the Bible that Christ does not destroy all human governments immediately upon his return? An examination of Psalm 2 and Psalm 110 makes it super-abundantly clear that a huge change takes place well ahead of any confrontation between mankind and Christ.
1/ As of November 2021 I see human governments around the world acting in ways that demonstrate that they are the least restrained in human history. They are not even willing to comply with fundamental and inalienable human rights laws such as the Nuremberg Code, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Covenant of Social and Political and Economic Rights as well as The European Convention of Human Rights.
2/ At Psalm 2 when Christ is enthroned as King of Planet Earth he ropes down, chains, manacles and restrains all human governments around the world to stop the perpetration of evil and oppressive inhuman behaviour.
3/ At Psalm 110 we clearly note that Christ will start ruling mankind whilst his enemies are still alive (albeit restrained). At this time Christians will receive an instant change to spiritual bodies and will be attuned to Christ's will and appointed to help and support Christ's rulership of mankind.
4/ The whole of mankind who survive the greatest ever oppression will see the huge contrast between the rulership of love and peace from Earth's new owner, King Christ and from what they were subjected to by human governments.
5/ Mankind will then be able to choose whom they wish to follow, Christ or the human rulers. Those who choose Christ will receive help for a millennium and will if they continue to seek peace receive health and longevity only previously dreamed of.
6/ Many years into Christ's initial rulership Psalm 2 predicts that the Kings, prime ministers and presidents will seek to extricate themselves from the loving but firm restraints imposed by Christ. The former rulers are still alive, well and kicking many years after Christ has returned.
Christ is still willing to pardon their heinous crimes if they repent. They are counselled at Psalm 2 to exercise insight and allow themselves to be corrected.
